During his dark days of neglect and misunderstanding, "The Antichrist" is a bold charge against Christianity, or more precisely against what became of Christian morality at the time of Nietzsche. He accuses the priests in particular of having perverted the original message of Christ, of constituting the negation of life as an ideal and of leaving the real world to take refuge in an imaginary and false world. Nietzsche: Philosopher, Psychologist, Antichrist was first published by Princeton University Press in 1950. A second edition was published in 1956, a third edition in 1968, and a fourth edition, which was the first paperback printing, in 1974.

Both books should be read under the aspect of the last words of his final original book, his autobiography Ecce Homo: “Dionysus against the Crucified.” Nietzsche : death of God.
